Project Description

Building a curriculum for an adult day center for adults with developmental disabilities.

Duane Rohrbacher and My Day Counts entered into an agreement in late 2017. The initial agreement was a trial run of a brand new curriculum that would involve just a few lessons. Dr. Rohrbacher coined the curriculum: the LIFE curriculum (Lifeskills, Independence, Friendship, Employment). After six months, My Day Counts was so thrilled with the product (which included a teacher training manual) that MDC entered into a new contract with ISB to create a comprehensive 300+ activity curriculum. This new, enhanced curriculum is called SIRI (Skills, Independence, Relationships, Interests). The curriculum has a pre-test, post-test component, assessments, and supplemental materials (including video) for each activity within each module within each lesson. The goal and purpose of the curriculum are to increase the employment rate of participants in the adult center for adults with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. The secondary purpose is to increase the overall skill set of the participants so that they can better function outside of the center in their communities.
